Meet Little Deer Engineer!

HoneyDee Labs creates interactive story apps for children about a little deer engineer exploring science, technology, engineering, art, and math concepts with his forest friends. Adults read them to children, ages 3-5, on smartphones and tablets, while kids play along by touching movable elements.

Little Deer Engineer is a curious little deer who goes on a series of adventures meant to inspire young children to explore nature and their surroundings with discoveries about life and scientific research.

How does Little Deer Engineer support parent-child bonding?

Through engaging stories, Little Deer Engineer supports quality, heartfelt family time.  By promoting children's mental, linguistic, and emotional development, Little Deer helps children lay a foundation for them to cultivate strong social, academic, and problem-solving skills.

Why is the parent-child bond important?

Early parent-child bonding helps children:

  • Learn about setting safe boundaries
  • Form secure attachments with others
  • Mature with healthy decision-making capabilities
  • Prepare for adulthood in an imperfect world
  • Benefit their long-term mental health and resilience

What is STEAM and why is it important?

Little Deer Engineer is storytelling with forest animals exploring science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) concepts in fun and original ways.

Benefits of introducing STEAM concepts to children:

  • enables the next generation of innovators which, in turn, leads to new products and processes that sustain our economy
  • creates critical thinkers
  • helps to bridge the ethnic and gender gaps sometimes found in math and science fields
  • by learning STEAM skills early on, children are better prepared for school
  • per the National Science Foundation: “In the 21st century, scientific and technological innovations have become increasingly important as we face the benefits and challenges of both globalization and a knowledge-based economy. To succeed in this new information-based and highly technological society, students need to develop their capabilities in STEM to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past.”

Why are little deer engineer's little stories so valuable?

We love a good, spicy villain! But not in real life.

British psychiatrist and psychoanalyst John Bowlby, the founding father of attachment theory, described attachment as an emotional bond that impacts behavior “from the cradle to the grave.” How you bond with caregivers during early childhood affects how you behave in relationships and friendships, how in touch you are with your emotions and how much you will allow yourself to love others on a conscious level.
